How to free up space from Photos on your iPhone or iPad

Photos and Videos are one of the main reasons of storage running out in iPhone or iPad. A high revolution of videos and photos will cover a considerable amount of space in your device. The more the quality of a photo or video is high, it will occupy that much more storage.
If your device’s storage is also running out or you want to maintain the storage used by Photos, then here are some solutions that will surely help in to save space.
By enabling iCloud Photo Library on iPhone or iPad
  1. Open ‘Settings’ app of your device.
  2. Scroll down and tap on ‘iCloud.’
  3. Tap on ‘Photos’ in the iCloud screen.
  4. Slide and turn on the switch of ‘iCloud Photo Library’ in Photos screen. Doing this will now upload your photos to iCloud.
(You can also switch Off ‘My Photo Stream’ in Photos screen it will help in to save some photo space.)
  1. Now, exit from ‘Settings’ app.
After uploading photos to your iCloud photo library, you can access it anytime time. Now, delete the undesired pictures from your iPhone or iPad and free up some storage space.
By deleting Unwanted Photos and videos from your device
  1. Open ‘Photos’ app on your device.
  2. Tap on ‘Albums’ tab at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on ‘Camera Roll’ to view all photos in one place. You can also select a specific album.
  4. Now, tap ‘Select’ at the top-right corner of the Camera Roll screen.
  5. Tap and select the photos and Videos that you want to delete.
  6. After selecting photos, tap ‘Trash’ icon at the right-bottom corner.
  7. Confirm by tapping ‘Delete No’s Photos.’ The number of selected photos will move into the trash.
  8. Tap ‘<Albums’ at the top-left corner to go back to albums.
  9. Scroll down & tap on ‘Recently Deleted’ album.
  10. Again tap ‘Select’ at the top-right corner of the screen.
  11. Tap ‘Delete All’ at the left bottom corner to delete all photos and videos permanently. You can also select items by tapping on it.
  12. Confirm by tapping on ‘Delete No’s Photos.’
Deleting unwanted or unnecessary photos and videos from your device will free the storage occupied by them.
By changing your Camera and video recording preferences
  1. Open ‘Settings’ of your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on ‘Photos & Camera’ in settings.
  3. Scroll to bottom in Photos & Camera settings.
  4. Turn off the ‘Keep Normal Photo’ switch.
  5. Now, tap on ‘Record Video.’ This option is just above to the Keep Normal Photo.
  6. Select a ‘Recording Revolution’ from the options. (low pixel occupies low space)
  7. Tap ‘<Photos & Camera’ at the top-left of the screen to go back.
  8. Now, tap on ‘Record Slow-mo’ option.
  9. Select a ‘Slow-mo recording revolution.’
  10. Exit from ‘Settings.’
Now, Photos & videos will record in lower resolution, and this will help in saving space.
By disabling Live and HDR Photos
  1. Open ‘Camera’ app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on the ‘Orange circle’ at the top of camera screen to disable Live Photos feature.
  3. Tap on ‘HDR’ to turn it on and off. It is left to the Live Photos circle. When you tap on HDR, you’ll see a slash through it, if it is already it means HDR is already disabled.
HDR compresses multiple exposures in a single Photo, and Live Photos feature have a burst of photos in one exposure. Disabling this will also help in saving some space.
